THERE ARE NO AUDITIONS AT THIS TIME. KEEP CHECKING BACK OR BECOME A MEMBER TO RECEIVE EMAIL UPDATES ABOUT FUTURE PROJECTS.
Q: What will happen at my audition?
A: Please show up between the designated time and keep in mind, it is a first come, first served basis. You will arrive and be met by our production crew, who will get you to fill out an audition form and take a quick picture of you. There will be a waiting room where you will wait, and any family or friends you bring can wait there also. Once it is your turn, you will be brought into the audition room and will meet the two directors and an accompanist. You will perform the song you have prepared and answer any questions the directors might have. Once you are given the okay, you are allowed to leave and we will contact you whether we want to see you again for callbacks.
Q: What song do I prepare?
A: The song can be of your choosing, preferably a musical theatre song that is NOT from "The Little Mermaid". Please choose one that showcases your voice well and that you are comfortable with. Sheet music is preferred. If there is a certain character you are auditioning for, keep in mind your song should reflect that character. Remember: It's all about having fun and being confident! So if nerves get the best of you, keep it simple! Singing "Happy Birthday" would be just fine too!
Q: Are there non-singing roles?
A: In "The Little Mermaid" we would like all of our cast to sing. All parts require a little bit of dancing with lots of acting and singing. If you are not as confident singing, but still love to act and dance, then please still audition! We will take into account what peoples strengths are.
Q: What do I wear to the audition?
A: There will be no dancing for the audition, but still you should be comfortable and be yourself! Callbacks will require dancing for most people, so dress comfortably!
Q: Can I audition for a specific part?
A: There will be a list of characters at the audition, that we will be casting for. On your audition form, there will be a place where you can put a specific character you would like to be considered for. You may not get that character, but it helps the directors to know what part you could see yourself doing. If there isn't a certain character you want, then no worries! It is not required. Check out www.mtishows.com and search "The Little Mermaid Jr" For a complete list of characters and vocal parts.
Q: What are Callbacks?
A: Callbacks are a chance for the directors to see people again. Usually people will be put into groups to see how they work together. If you are asked to attend the callbacks, the directors will make sure you know what is required. Most likely there will be a dance audition as well as reading for specific parts. Make sure you wear comfy clothes and have indoor shoes that you can wear if you will be learning a dance.
*In order to audition you must be between the ages of 8 and 20. In order to be in the show you must become a member, which would require you to fill out a membership form, and pay the $5.00 membership fee.
**Both directors have been in your shoes before. They have auditioned in front of countless people and know how stressful and nerve racking it can be! Just remember to be yourself! Smile, have fun and show them what you can do!
