- Kathleen Chayer, SMHS
"The Glass Menagerie is a literary classic, written in 1944 by Tennessee Williams. It is a memory play told from the point of view of Tom Wingfield. The play is set in 1937 St. Louis, Tom is an aspiring poet who must set aside his dreams in order to support his mother, Amanda, and his sister, Laura. The Wingfield family face the challenge of accepting the reality of their lives choosing instead to escape their troubles by turning to movies, a glass menagerie, and the arrival of a mysterious gentleman caller. The YTC is pleased to exhibit the talented youth of our community in their depiction of this remarkable work of literature.
Directed by David Beisel, the cast features Lacey Mooney as Amanda, Sean Morris as Tom, Emma McConachie-Anderson as Laura and Brock Boonstra as Jim, the infamous gentleman caller.
Evening performances on December 16th and 17th, 2011 at the Roxy in Owen Sound; $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. There are group tickets available to school or community groups for daytime performances on the 15th and 16th through the Box Office as well.

The Cast
Lacey Mooney - Amanda Wingfield
Lacey has appeared in numerous OSLT productions, most recently as Ermengarde in Hello! Dolly, and in Celebrate. She has appeared in both Seussical and Beauty & the Beast with WHSS, and has been actively involved in the YTC since she helped to co-found it three years ago. She has been in 5 productions mounted by YTC, and directed Peter Pan with the organization last May. Lacey will be seen in two upcoming OSLT performances, including The Devil's Disciple in February. "I would like to thank Sean, Brock and Emma for being wonderful cast mates and for not laughing too hard at all my attempts at "girlish laughter". A big thanks to Jantien and Jazzmine for their hard work and dedication. Thanks also to my good friend David for giving me the opportunity to play a role like Amanda, and for being a very patient, and wonderful director. Enjoy the show!"
Sean Morris - Tom Wingfield
This is Sean's 3rd production with the YTC this year, after playing Mr.Darling in Peter Pan, and being a part of Fireworks: A Pop Music Production. He has also appeared in Macbeth, My Fair Lady, and Hello! Dolly with the OSLT. He also played Linus in the OSCVI production of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. You can look forward to seeing Sean portray the role of Cliff in the OSLT's Cabaret this April. Sean is thrilled to be playing Tom in The Glass Menagerie, it has been great working with such a talented cast and crew, a lot of fun and a surprising amount of laughs for such a serious play. He would like to thank David for his encouragement and direction, and everyone for their support and dedication to such a wonderful play.

As an avid theatrical performer, it is always a treat for David to have the opportunity to direct a show with the YTC. The talent and drive of the youth in this production has been absolutely incredible to work with, and David would like to thank his incredible cast and crew for helping draw together such an incredible production. David has always had a soft spot for Tennessee Williams, and directing "The Glass Menagerie" is an exciting dream for him, second only to wishing he could act in it as well! Jantien plans on furthering her education in theatre production next fall.

Since then, she has played in both Showcase 2: Another Openin' and as Liza in Peter Pan, both with the YTC. Jazzmine greatly looks forward to acting in both The Devil's Desciple and Cabaret with the OSLT this season. She is very proud of everyone involved in this play. Jazzmine has a dance background with Dancemakers, as well as with Ann Milne's School of Dance, and has performed vocally with the YTC Showcase Singers on multiple occasions. She has enjoyed being behind the scenes but is very excited to be performing on stage in the near future.
